The ridges of his mountain in Oahu are the lines that lead me to the summit and lead my heart to return.

Life is in the details. Get in close and show the details we usually miss. This hornets' nest grew around the gadget that keeps track of our electricity use right next to our garage. Since my neighbor who enters through our garage is allergic to their sting, we had to spray the nest and I took it down. I stored it in a cardboard box because I was so fascinated with the details of this complex home of the hornets. The textures are remarkable. I was sad we had to remove the nest but grateful I have saved the nest and have now tried to photograph the textures and colors. I used Michael's Iphone 8 plus. Tomorrow I will post the photos I took of it with my canon rebel. We can see which has better shots.
This lean young man in NW Oahu is on a mission, just in from riding a wave in the rough surf, he presses on.
Learning a new photography technique is usually a challenge and always interesting. This week our assignment in 52 week challenge was "Technical Zoom Burst." I had no idea what that meant. I learned that to achieve a zoom burst, I had to use a long exposure and then zoom in or out with my lens. I used my telephoto on my canon rebel T6I atop held steady on my tripod and experimented with slower and faster zooming in and out with a six second exposure. . The top photo is an orchid Michael gave me. The second photo is a group of Devon's hand-blown glass paper weights (and one that I blew) perched above glass vases and glass candle holders with a string of white lights behind them. See below to check out what the glass pieces look like without the zoom burst.
These colorful boats invite you to paddle from Lanikai in Oahu to the sacred Mokes. The aqua sea will surround you as breezes caress you. This is on my bucket list.
Week 9- Creative Forskaen. For over a quarter of a century this farm wagon has laid dormant as it has been buffetted by snow, rain, scorching sun, and neglect. Who crafted the wheels? What happened to the farmer who harnessed the horse that pulled it? What did it transport?
Fill the frame with your subject, no background. You will need to get up close and personal, or use a good zoom lens. While hiking with Dawn, Vincent, and Shawn, I kept looking for subject to fulfill this week's assignment: "Fill the Frame." This tree stump covered with lichen fit the bill. I have not been able to do it justice and wish I had taken more shots from more angles.
Assignment: Week 6 Vision: Alternating Rhythm Alternate patterns of light to bring depth and rhythm to the photograph.
This category is designed to push you to go beyond sight, to insight; to take inspiration and make it a reality. Vision exists in your imagination and is revealed your photographs; expressing something otherwise invisible. Developing a Vision for your work is showing to others what you see in your mind’s eye. Finding patterns of sound and light and repetition of shapes in my brother's clock shop. As the clock gears turn, the clocks tick and chime. Visual and auditory sounds. Wildcard Photographer's Choice Capture an image on your terms; who, what, where, when, why, how … it's all up to you. Caveat: You must tell us your intent.
My intent was to capture the consummate entertainer -- here he is making in entrance in pseudo slow motion as if he is a football player running into the end zone for a touchdown: very fitting since tonight is the superbowl.
